Album Notes & Community Reviews

A landmark album in the career of South African bassist and pianist Johnny Dyani, 'Witchdoctor's Son' pulsates with a vibrant blend of township jive, soaring saxophone lines, and intricate rhythmic interplay. The music reflects Dyani's South African roots, creating a joyous and surging sound that transcends hardship. Featuring a frontline of fellow South African exile Dudu Pukwana and Danish free jazz pioneer John Tchicai, the music is a deeply soulful and celebratory expression of 'Cape Jazz.'
