Album Notes & Community Reviews
Recorded near Paris to evade censorship under the Portuguese dictatorship, this stark, deeply poetic folk album became a crucial catalyst for historical change. The record famously contains the anthem 'Grândola, Vila Morena', which was broadcast on national radio three years later as the secret signal to launch the Carnation Revolution. It is an incredibly powerful, intimately arranged masterclass in political protest music.
