Album Notes & Community Reviews
'Flat-Out Jump Suite' is a monumental work of avant-garde jazz by the Julius Hemphill Quartet, composed as a continuous four-part suite. The recording highlights Hemphill's searing alto saxophone interplay alongside cellist Abdul Wadud and trumpeter Olu Dara, resulting in a profoundly blues-drenched, free-flowing exploration. It remains a crucial document of the loft jazz scene and Hemphill's singular compositional vision.
