Album Notes & Community Reviews

On 'Coffins on Io', Kayo Dot pivots sharply towards a retro-futurist sound inspired by 80s darkwave and sci-fi soundtracks like Blade Runner. Toby Driver trades metal aggression for sleek synthesizers, crooned vocals, and Peter Gabriel-esque textures, creating a moody, atmospheric noir in space. It is a bold stylistic reinvention that maintains the band's complexity while exploring a seductive, nocturnal pop sensibility.
