Kin

Album Notes & Community Reviews

On his 2026 Phantom Limb release, KMRU constructs a profound sonic genealogy with 'Kin'. The album functions as an ancestral dialogue, weaving fragmented archival recordings of family and place into a dense, immersive tapestry. Kamaru’s signature granular synthesis and gossamer textures envelop these personal artifacts, creating a liminal space where memory and digital processing converge. Subtly integrated field recordings from Nairobi contrast with deep, resonant sub-bass frequencies, mapping a deeply personal yet universally resonant cartography of belonging.
