A highly experimental album, 'The Path of Totality' is a collaborative project between Korn and a variety of electronic music producers. Each track was co-created with a different artist from the dubstep and electronic scenes, including Skrillex, Noisia, Excision, and 12th Planet. Vocalist Jonathan Davis stated the intention was not to make a dubstep album but to create a new, boundary-pushing Korn album by incorporating these new sounds.
