Zëss : le jour du néant
by Magma
A composition developed since the 1970s, 'Zëss : le jour du néant' received its definitive studio recording as a single, 38-minute orchestral piece that merges the band's signature Zeuhl style with full symphonic arrangements. Thematically an oratorio for "The Day of Nothingness," the work builds upon hypnotic piano and rhythmic loops, with founder Christian Vander shifting entirely to lead vocals to narrate a cosmic finale through a mix of French and Kobaïan. The integration of the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra adds a lush, cinematic depth to the powerful choral structures and propulsive instrumentation, realizing the composition's long-mythologized scale.
