Isn't Anything

Album Notes & Community Reviews

'Isn't Anything' is widely credited with crystallizing the shoegaze movement, driven by Kevin Shields's pioneering use of pitch-bent guitar glide and dense, reverse-reverb textures. The album bridges the gap between the aggressive noise of their early EPs and the dreamlike, androgynous vocal mixing that would become their signature. By burying pop melodies beneath a suffocating wall of ethereal dissonance, it fundamentally altered the trajectory of British indie music.
