Album Notes & Community Reviews

Functioning as a crucial pioneer of the Italian extreme metal scene, Opera IX infuses incredibly harsh, lo-fi black metal directly with sweeping symphonic keyboards and occult mythology. 'The Call of the Wood' relies heavily on sprawling, progressive song structures led by Cadaveria's terrifyingly aggressive vocal shrieks. The debut beautifully established the deeply theatrical, profoundly pagan-oriented aesthetic that would define their enduring underground career.
