A brilliant and unique post-bop session, this album is treasured for its adventurous spirit and incredible lineup. The title track, composed by La Roca, is built on an unusual time signature that inspires daring, exploratory solos. It's particularly notable for featuring tenorist John Gilmore outside of his usual context with Sun Ra, and a young, pre-fusion Chick Corea, whose playing is both harmonically advanced and rhythmically sharp.
