Biography
Pete La Roca (1938–2012) was an American jazz drummer whose 1965 #Blue Note# album 'Basra' is a landmark of modal post-bop. A musical, interactive player, he worked with *Sonny Rollins* and *Jackie McLean* before leading his own sessions, then famously quit music to become a copyright lawyer. His second album, 'Turkish Women at the Bath', is a cult classic of exploratory jazz, and he returned to drumming in the 1990s.
