Pharoah

Album Notes & Community Reviews

A cult classic and a unique entry in Pharoah Sanders's discography, 'Pharoah' finds the fiery saxophonist exploring a more serene and meditative sound. The album is most famous for the side-long epic 'Harvest Time,' a beautiful, minimalist piece built on a simple, repeated bass line and shimmering guitar textures. Over this, Sanders's saxophone is remarkably gentle and lyrical. The album has become a hugely influential touchstone for ambient and spiritual music.
