Album Notes & Community Reviews

Recorded at the Roseland Ballroom in New York City with a 35-piece orchestral ensemble, this live album massively expands the cinematic tension of Portishead's trip-hop sound. The string arrangements bring a sweeping, Bernard Herrmann-esque grandeur to Beth Gibbons's haunting vocals and the band's scratching, vinyl-crackling grooves. The performance brilliantly translates their claustrophobic studio aesthetic into a sweeping, emotionally devastating concert experience.
