Album Notes & Community Reviews
On 'Diaspora Problems', Soul Glo unleashes a torrential fusion of hardcore punk, rap, and noise, marked by vocalist Pierce Jordan's rapid-fire, incisive delivery. The album's raw, self-produced sound captures a frenetic energy, while Will Yip's mixing provides clarity to the instrumental chaos, which incorporates elements from screamo to ska-influenced horn sections. Lyrically, the work is a dense and unflinching examination of systemic racism, generational trauma, mental health, and financial precarity from a Black perspective, solidifying the album as a landmark release in modern hardcore.
