Hippopotamus
by Sparks
Approaching their fifth decade as a band, the eccentric Mael brothers return to a more traditional rock band format after years of minimalist electronic experiments. The album is incredibly theatrical and verbose, tackling absurd historical narratives and existential anxieties with their signature vaudevillian wit. It marked a massive critical and commercial resurgence, returning them to the UK Top 10 for the first time since 1974.
