Album Notes & Community Reviews
Recorded by the Chapel Hill ensemble led by Jimbo Mathus, 'Bedlam Ballroom' extends Squirrel Nut Zippers' swing revival with vocalist Katharine Whalen, a full horn-led lineup and material moving between swing, calypso and early jazz forms. Its theatrical arrangements and satirical songwriting mark the band's last studio album before its initial breakup.
