Album Notes & Community Reviews

Arriving shortly before the massive explosion of the late-90s swing revival, 'The Inevitable' is a remarkably authentic homage to 1920s and 30s hot jazz. The Squirrel Nut Zippers actively avoid modern irony, recording on vintage equipment to capture a genuinely warm, antique sound. The album perfectly balances highly energetic Dixieland horns with playful, eccentric lyricism, setting the stage for their subsequent mainstream breakthrough.
