Album Notes & Community Reviews
The avant-garde jazz visionary steered his Arkestra through a surprisingly accessible, warmly romantic set of standards and originals. 'Reflections in Blue' tempers their usual cosmic free-jazz freakouts with highly melodic post-bop arrangements and a nostalgic, nocturnal atmosphere. The recording showcases the ensemble's deep reverence for the traditional jazz continuum alongside their unmistakable eccentricity.
