Album Notes & Community Reviews

Documenting some of Sun Ra's most radical early experiments with dissonance, 'When Angels Speak of Love' eschews structure for deeply chaotic, cosmic free jazz improvisations. Recorded in 1963 but released on his own label in '66, the album is noted for its heavy use of echo and unconventional reverberation effects. It presents a challenging, aggressively avant-garde side of the Arkestra's vast mythology.
