Album Notes & Community Reviews

Operating almost entirely as a solo endeavor by frontman Hoest, the seventh studio album from the long-running Norwegian act reaffirms their dedication to the freezing aesthetic of 1990s true Norwegian black metal. The tracking eschews their recent flirtations with banjo and folk instrumentation, returning to a pure, uncompromising focus on razor-sharp, melodic tremolo riffing and icy, mid-tempo groove. The record serves as a stark, traditionalist ode to the brutal Scandinavian winter.
