Producer David Rubinson recorded this double album in a single night at New York's Fillmore East, with a band unusually stocked with four tuba players, Howard Johnson, Bob Stewart, Joseph Daley and Earle McIntyre, beside pianist John Simon and guitarist John Hall. The closing jam runs nearly nineteen minutes, while 'She Caught the Katy' was left off the vinyl for reasons of space and only restored on the later CD edition.
