Album Notes & Community Reviews
Dropping the 'Jazz' from their original moniker, the ensemble fully embraced the burgeoning fusion movement with 'Crusaders 1'. The double album thrives on locked-in funk grooves, anchored by electric bass and punctuated by slick, soulful horn interactions. It proved to be a massive crossover success, effectively bridging the divide between serious jazz improvisation and mainstream R&B audiences.
