Manifest Destiny
by The Dictators
The New York proto-punk pioneers temper the aggressive, junk-culture aesthetics of their debut in favor of slightly more polished, melodic hard rock production. Adding Mark 'The Animal' Mendoza on bass, the group delivers driving, anthemic tracks heavily influenced by 1960s pop and classic heavy metal riffs. The record alienated some hardcore punk purists but firmly established the foundational sonic blueprint for high-energy power pop.
