Album Notes & Community Reviews
'Are You Experienced' fused blues, R&B, and psychedelic rock, establishing a new musical vocabulary and showcasing Jimi Hendrix's innovative electric guitar playing. Producer Chas Chandler guided the band through London's Olympic, CBS, and De Lane Lea studios, capturing a powerful live energy with high-volume recording and pioneering effects like backwards-tape guitar and novel microphone placements. The result was a landmark debut that combined ferocious, effects-laden originals such as "Purple Haze" and "Foxy Lady" with reinterpretations of the blues tradition, forever altering the sonic landscape of rock music.
