Formed by Wayne Hussey and Craig Adams after their bitter departure from The Sisters of Mercy, this debut trades creeping gloom for bombastic, stadium-ready gothic rock. The heavily chorused 12-string guitars and grandiose, romantic lyricism successfully bridged the gap between the post-punk underground and mainstream big music aesthetics.
