Expanding their claustrophobic, post-industrial sound with prominent drum machines and jagged funk influences, the 4AD trio created a remarkably tense and rhythmic atmosphere. The dark, highly dissonant post-punk arrangements perfectly complement Michael Allen's aggressive, spoken-word vocal delivery.
