Anoyo

Serving as a companion piece to 2018’s 'Konoyo', 'Anoyo' draws from the same recording sessions in a Tokyo temple with the Gagaku ensemble, Tokyo Gakuso. The album offers a sparser and more meditative interpretation of those sessions, foregrounding the interplay between ancient Japanese court music instrumentation and Hecker's processed, abstract electronics. This results in a sound that is simultaneously organic and synthetic, exploring themes of the afterlife by deconstructing traditional forms into minimalist, kinetic, and emotionally complex ambient structures.
