Biography
Tim Hecker is a Canadian composer and sound artist who sculpts immersive, physical and emotionally resonant works from processed sound. Initially recording techno as Jetone, he developed a form of electronic music built by deconstructing and layering organic sources, pipe organ, piano and woodwinds, and obscuring their origins through digital manipulation and granular synthesis, a style often described as cathedral electronic music. On albums such as 'Ravedeath, 1972' and 'Virgins' he explores the friction between noise, dissonance and melody, occupying an influential space within modern ambient and experimental music.
