Recorded primarily on a pipe organ in Iceland, 'Ravedeath, 1972' is a monumental work of drone and distortion. Tim Hecker manipulates the organic sounds of the instrument into digital static, creating a tension between the sacred and the profane. It is a physically overwhelming, yet deeply emotional listening experience.
