Virgins

On 'Virgins', Tim Hecker pivots from pure ambient textures towards a more confrontational and percussive sound, constructed from live ensemble recordings of piano, woodwinds, and synthesizers. The resulting compositions are intentionally out of phase and rhythmically disjointed, creating a raw, abstract, and visceral palette that feels both meticulously sculpted and chaotically beautiful. This approach melds acoustic dissonance with electronic processing to evoke a sense of exhilarating bleakness and primal awe.
