Album Notes & Community Reviews

'Black and White' introduced Tony Joe White's swamp-rock persona, defined by low-slung grooves, laconic vocals, and Southern narrative detail. The album includes 'Polk Salad Annie,' the song that brought him national recognition. Its sound links country storytelling, R&B rhythm sections, and rock production in a distinctive late-1960s Southern style.
