Biography
Tony Joe White was a Louisiana singer-songwriter whose swamp rock blended blues, country and soul. His 1969 hit 'Polk Salad Annie' introduced his deep drawl and humid guitar style, and his songs became standards through *Brook Benton*'s 'Rainy Night in Georgia' and *Elvis Presley*'s stage versions. He recorded steadily for five decades, through 'Bad Mouthin'' in 2018. His own albums are models of economy: one voice, one guitar, and a groove that never hurries.
