Album Notes & Community Reviews
'Walpurgisnacht' stands as a foundational release in the Hellenic black metal scene, establishing Varathron alongside contemporaries like Rotting Christ and Necromantia. The recording is characterized by its mid-paced, atmospheric approach, utilizing prominent keyboards and heavy, melodic riffing to evoke a deeply occult and mythological aura. It remains a distinct departure from the aggressive, blast-beat-heavy templates typical of their Scandinavian counterparts.
