Biography
Varathron is a Greek black metal band formed in Athens in 1988 by vocalist Stefan Necroabyssious, the sole original member. A pioneer of the Hellenic style beside *Rotting Christ* and *Necromantia*, the band made its name with 'His Majesty at the Swamp' (1993) and 'Walpurgisnacht' (1995). Rebuilt in Ioannina in the 2000s, Varathron has since released a run of epic, melodic albums including 'Patriarchs of Evil' and 'The Crimson Temple'.
