Recorded in Santa Cruz between 2005 and 2006, 'A Crystal Skull in Peru' is a long-form ambient statement from Visible Cloaks during their early era as Cloaks. Released on CDr via Atheists Are Gods, the thirty-two minute title composition features prepared piano patterns, zither, handbells, and subtle electroacoustic tape loops. The track develops with incredible restraint, deconstructing a romantic, melancholic melody into abstract, cubistic drone layers.
