Satyr, the legendary frontman of Norwegian black metal act Satyricon, constructed this highly atmospheric, purely instrumental ambient side project. The entirely synthesizer-driven recording creates incredibly dense, deeply melancholic medieval soundscapes inspired directly by ancient Nordic folklore and fantasy. It stands as an incredibly influential, defining masterpiece of the nascent dungeon synth genre, completely devoid of any traditional extreme metal instrumentation.
