Album Notes & Community Reviews
Produced by Haruomi Hosono and recorded in Tokyo in five weeks at the start of the year, the album was the first to put the Roland TR-808 rhythm composer at the center of a major release and the band's first studio work built on the Roland MC-4 sequencer. Its electro arrangements fed directly into early hip hop and techno, and Sakamoto's '1000 Knives' reworks a piece from his first solo album.
