Biography
Actress is the primary alias of Darren J. Cunningham, an influential British electronic musician and producer. His work is known for its abstract and experimental nature, deconstructing genres like techno, house, and R&B into what has been termed "R&B concr猫te". A former professional footballer, Cunningham founded the #Werkdiscs# label in 2004, which became a platform for his own material and other forward-thinking artists. His albums, such as the acclaimed 'Splazsh' and the conceptual 'R.I.P.', released on labels like #Honest Jon's# and #Ninja Tune#, are celebrated for their degraded textures, shifting rhythms, and singular, atmospheric sound design, making him a key figure in the UK's post-dubstep landscape.
