Biography
Alan Vega was an American vocalist and visual artist, best known as the incendiary frontman for the pioneering electronic proto-punk duo Suicide. Alongside his musical partner *Martin Rev*, Vega's confrontational performances and minimalist aesthetic, blending rockabilly snarls with primitive electronics, broke new ground in the 1970s New York underground. The duo's self-titled 1977 debut album, 'Suicide', became a landmark of experimental music. Vega also maintained a prolific solo career, beginning with his 1980 self-titled album and the hit 'Jukebox Babe', exploring rockabilly and avant-garde electronics on labels like #ZE Records# and #Elektra#.
