Biography
Amon Amarth is a Swedish melodic death metal band from Tumba, formed in 1992 and named after the Sindarin name for Mount Doom. Viking mythology and history supply the lyrics, set to melodic death metal built on twin guitars and Johan Hegg's growled vocals. After the 1998 debut 'Once Sent from the Golden Hall', the band broke through internationally with 'Twilight of the Thunder God' in 2008. Drummer Jocke Wallgren joined in 2016, and albums such as 'Jomsviking', 'Berserker' and 'The Great Heathen Army' have kept the band at the top of the metal festival circuit.
