Biography
Argent was the band Rod Argent formed in 1969 after *The Zombies* split, recruiting Russ Ballard, Jim Rodford and Bob Henrit for a heavier blend of rock, progressive textures and close harmonies. Their signature song 'Hold Your Head Up' reached the top five on both sides of the Atlantic in 1972, and 'God Gave Rock and Roll to You' became a rock standard. After Ballard's 1974 departure, John Verity and John Grimaldi joined for the final albums before the group dissolved in 1976.
