Biography
Minneapolis punk band formed in 1987 by Kat Bjelland (vocals, guitar) and Lori Barbero (drums), with Michelle Leon on bass. 'Spanking Machine' (1990) and the *major-label* album 'Fontanelle' (1992), recorded with bassist Maureen Herman, made them central figures of the American underground and of 1990s feminist punk. They wound down in the late 1990s, split in 2001, and reunited for a run of acclaimed shows in 2014–2017 before ending again.
