Biography
Chicago trombonist Bennie Green was one of the few trombonists of his generation untouched by *J.J. Johnson*'s influence, blending swing warmth with bebop fluency. After apprenticeships with *Earl Hines* and *Charlie Ventura*, he led a superb run of #Blue Note Records# and #Prestige Records# albums in the 1950s, sessions prized for their relaxed, hard-swinging small-group feel and Green's unfailingly melodic, blues-rooted solos.
