Duke Jordan

Duke Jordan was a gifted American jazz pianist integral to the bebop era. He is most celebrated for his tenure in *Charlie Parker's* classic quintet from 1947 to 1948, alongside *Miles Davis*, contributing lyrical introductions to standards like 'Embraceable You' on seminal recordings for #Dial# and #Savoy# records. After his time with *Parker*, Jordan led his own trios and recorded his acclaimed debut as a leader, 'Flight to Jordan', for #Blue Note#. His composition 'Jordu' became a jazz standard. In 1978, he moved to Copenhagen, where he enjoyed a career renaissance, recording prolifically for the #SteepleChase# label.
