Biography
Big John Patton (1935-2002) was a Kansas City Hammond organist whose #Blue Note Records# albums defined soul-jazz: 'Along Came John' (1963), 'Blue John' (1963) and 'Let 'em Roll' (1965), often alongside guitarist *Grant Green*. After earlier work with *Lloyd Price*, his gritty, blues-rooted organ trios were rediscovered by the acid-jazz generation, and he returned to recording in the 1990s before his death in New Jersey.
