Biography
City Boy was a British art rock band from Birmingham, United Kingdom, active from 1975 to 1982. Built around Lol Mason, Steve Broughton and Max Thomas, with Mike Slamer, Chris Dunn and drummers Roger Kent and Roy Ward, the group combined dense vocal harmonies, twin guitars and keyboards on albums for #Vertigo# including 'City Boy', 'Book Early' and 'The Day the Earth Caught Fire'. Their most durable songs, '5-7-0-5' and the title track of 'The Day the Earth Caught Fire', show a band pursuing polished, theatrical rock while punk and new wave reshaped the British market around them.
