Dälek is an American experimental hip-hop group from Newark, New Jersey, formed in 1998. Pronounced 'die-a-leck', their sound is known for its abrasive and atmospheric quality, blending industrial noise, shoegaze, and ambient textures with dense, politically charged lyrics. The group, fronted by *Will Brooks* (MC Dälek), initially gained recognition with their debut album 'Negro Necro Nekros'. After signing with *Mike Patton*'s #Ipecac Recordings#, they released a series of critically acclaimed albums including 'From Filthy Tongue of Gods and Griots' and 'Absence', solidifying their reputation as pioneers of industrial hip-hop. Their music challenges genre conventions, drawing comparisons to *Public Enemy* and *My Bloody Valentine*.
