Dälek

Dälek is an American experimental hip-hop group from Newark, New Jersey, formed in 1998. Pronounced 'die-a-leck', their sound is known for its abrasive and atmospheric quality, blending industrial noise, shoegaze, and ambient textures with dense, politically charged lyrics. The group, fronted by Will Brooks (MC Dälek), initially gained recognition with their debut album 'Negro Necro Nekros'. After signing with *Mike Patton*'s #Ipecac Recordings#, they released a series of critically acclaimed albums including 'From Filthy Tongue of Gods and Griots' and 'Absence', solidifying their reputation as pioneers of industrial hip-hop. Their music challenges genre conventions, drawing comparisons to *Public Enemy* and *My Bloody Valentine*.
