Biography

Erroll Garner was a virtuosic American jazz pianist and composer, celebrated for his uniquely orchestral and joyous playing style. Entirely self-taught and never learning to read music, he developed a signature approach characterized by a steady, guitar-like left-hand rhythm against a florid, behind-the-beat right-hand melody. His 1955 live album, 'Concert by the Sea', became one of the best-selling jazz albums of all time, solidifying his international fame. Garner's most famous composition, the timeless ballad "Misty," has become a cherished jazz standard recorded by countless artists, including *Ella Fitzgerald* and *Frank Sinatra*. His prolific recording career saw him release music on dozens of labels, including #Columbia# and #Savoy#.
