Biography
Boston ensemble Ehnahre, formed in 2006 around bassist and vocalist Ryan McGuire, dissolve the boundary between extreme metal and contemporary classical composition. Their dense, dissonant music uses extended techniques, aleatoric rhythms and free improvisation, and sets texts by modernist poets including Donald Justice, Samuel Beckett and Yves Bonnefoy instead of conventional lyrics. Albums including 'The Man Closing Up' (2008), 'Taming the Cannibals' (2010), 'Old Earth' (2012), 'Douve' (2015) and 'The Marrow' (2017) appeared largely on #Crucial Blast#, as the lineup evolved from a death-doom band into a flexible chamber collective.
