Biography
Ernest Tubb (1914-1984), the Texas Troubadour, was an American country singer and songwriter from Crisp, Texas, and a pioneer of honky tonk. His 1941 hit 'Walking the Floor Over You' helped establish the style, and he followed it with the first hit version of 'Blue Christmas', duets with *Loretta Lynn* and the 1965 standard 'Waltz Across Texas'. A Grand Ole Opry fixture from 1943 and leader of the Texas Troubadours, he entered the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1965.
